I am locked in a cage
Transfixed on the rust soaked bars
My name elegantly written on a page
Being burned by their cigars

Chipping the paint off these nails
Breaking down to the bone
Knowing not what this entails
Scampering like a coward to this unknown

These pictures in my mind
Losing to this strife
Made me blind
To what was waiting for me in the afterlife

The blaze, a light to guide
To the unattainable key
Has been defiled and died
Leaving only my three

The rope, the knife or the gun
They all lie there with a taunt
Which will never be outrun
These gaudy smiles that they flaunt

The blood from my heart is cradled
By the very pool of hands
That were no longer able
To cease their violent scans

Leaving me to wonder
If I was meant in here,
To be whole or asunder
To be an object to a seer

Is it all a show?
To them does it bring pleasure
For them to know
That I am their treasure?

Leave me on a pedestal
Shine the light on me bright
But they should know this cage is rentable
To death I'll take the invite
